Home
We’ve been home a few days now and man, it’s good to be back, even with all the craziness that comes with it.
I didn’t even go in the house first when we pulled in. I immediately went to the backyard to check on the chickens.
All there!!! Whew.
And there was a mound of eggs!
FYI, turns out, if you leave eggs that are potentially fertilized out in a warm coop for too long, you’ll get baby chicks. I learned the hard way when making scrambled eggs.
Don’t ask.
It was traumatic. A lot of yelling to “Come look!”
I wasn’t expecting that.
And yes, someone was keeping an eye on them.
While I was out back with the chickens, the kiddos were running all over the house hugging the walls before dogpiling on my bed. It’s obvious they are happy to be home too.
And even Amelia was happy to see us and cried for attention. Embry was just the person to snuggle with her (once all the running was over of course)
But now, the not so fun part of vacation…the clean up.
We all chipped in and got everything out of the camper. The pile of laundry was daunting, but I remind myself it did not have to be done in one day. Or two. Or even three.
It will get done when it gets done. Don’t stress.
Easier said than done, right?
While we carried everything in, Justin climbed back onto the roof and removed the entire awning from the camper.
Poor guy. I know he is so upset and all the work that’s going to have to go into it to repair it, but he has been such a trooper about it all.
It is amazing how life inside the camper can feel so different from life outside the camper. Vacation life vs real life.
I’m going to have to think on this more, but why is it so difficult to carry some of the positive attributes of camper life into everyday life?
Our life is busy and for some, it might not make any sense, but for us, it’s normal.
Being home is actually just the beginning of the next adventure.
This week alone, the girls are at church camp, we’re completing renovations, and getting ready to have friends over on Sunday. On top of that, it’s Father’s Day, our wedding anniversary, Edley’s birthday, Amelia the cat’s birthday (very important day to someone in this house I’m sure), and Aubyn’s baptism anniversary! Not to mention we have family coming to town next week and then we’re off to Kentucky for a short camping trip.
Maybe I am seeing why our everyday life isn’t looking like camping life…we’re busy!
But I don’t think we would have it anyother way.
Okay, maybe a tad less busy…
The point is, it’s good to be home, regardless of how busy our calendars are or what’s on our to-do lists.
There truly is no place like home and I love my view.
