Cortez Clinic

Leaving Silverton, Justin and I decided to take Embry to a doctor when we got to Cortez. It was a big enough town and had a walk in clinic. Her feeling unwell has lingered too long for us to feel comfortable with and we made her go despite the tears and pleas not to.

We really thought she was feeling better and had acclimated to the elevation, but the experience in the mine proved otherwise.

We were concerned.

We drove straight to the clinic and unhitched the carustin took the others to set up at the campground and Embry and I would meet him there in a little bit.

This clinic was great and I felt relief knowing my girl was going to be checked out.

Sweet Embry did not want to be there and tears came to my eyes watching her sit there and not knowing how to help her.

Unfortunately, the poor doctor was stumped too but sat with us for 30 minutes trying to figure out what could possibly be wrong. Her vitals looked good, which was great news, but why is she still struggling?

Could be a virus that’s lingering or could be that she’s worn out from all the travel and being out of her comfort zone.

The doc gave her an electrolyte popsicle (no, she wasn’t dehydrated) and gave us a “prescription” to go get a strawberry banana smoothie from McDonald’s. Embry changed her tune about going to the doctor when he said this!

After this visit, she perked up and has been much better since. Sometimes you just need a doctor to tell you you’re okay or you need a smoothie to get you over the hump. Whatever it is did the trick and she was feeling better again.

Thank goodness.

I don’t like seeing my little girl looking pitiful and not feeling well. Seeing her light up again might be my newest highlight!
