What’s Your Part?
This keeps ringing in my head, so I figured either I needed to hear it clearly or someone else needed to hear it. Probably the first, but I’ll share anyway just in case.
Our world is massive and sometimes we can seem so insignificant and small.
What keeps coming to mind is that to this world, I am a nobody.
Of course to my family and friends, I am somebody, but to the larger world, I am of no importance.
But…
In God’s kingdom, I am of utmost value. Same for you.
And in God’s kingdom, we each have a part to play.
Sitting in our church’s conference a few weeks ago, I looked around at the thousands in the auditorium and just sat in awe that each of us are important to God’s plan. I believe He asks each of us to do something, whether large or small, to fulfill His plan.
It dawned on me while there that I have absolutely no desire or calling to be on the worship team. They are amazing and get all the recognition being front and center and lit up by the lights. They bring the energy and are amazing and I want absolutely nothing to do with it.
The pastors. Man. If you have not heard Alex or Henry Seeley preach, you’re missing out. They are incredible as are all the preachers they give the stage to. I love watching Justin preach. It’s like it is exactly where he is supposed to be. For them, being up there teaching and leading is exactly what they were made for. But that’s not my place.
My place is in the background, listening, observing, having one on one conversations, sharing, connecting, writing.
And that’s okay.
You don’t have to have a spotlight on you to play an important role in God’s kingdom.
And it’s personal. What He’s asked you to do, He’s not asked anyone else to do it the way He’s asked you to do it.
A woman shared with me the other day the story of how God asked her to use her 2 acres to start a farm school for children. What?!?! How cool is that? God didn’t ask us to do that, but He was very clear that He wanted her to do it and I think it is incredible. Not to mention my friend who is blessed by sending her child there.
Another friend was pulled away from one job he loved into another job where the CEO wasn’t a believer. He saw his part in God’s plan to evangelize to the CEO who has worldwide reach. Guess what? That friend was let go shortly after, but not before the CEO started publicly talking about God.
Or maybe God put on your heart to start a small bible study for middle school girls?
Or did He lead you to be a homeschool mom and raise your children in His word?
Whether you are on a stage with a spotlight or tucked away in your daughter’s room typing away on a keyboard words God is putting on your heart, you matter and you do have a role to play in His kingdom.
Do you know what He’s asking you to do? Do you know that you are one of the puzzle pieces in His glorious puzzle? That if you don’t show up, the puzzle isn’t complete?
We need you. The world needs you. God needs you. To do your part, however big or small. We each matter.
I can’t wait to hear where each of you feel like God is asking you to show up or if God told you specifically where He needs you or what He wants you to do. Will you share with me below? Let’s help encourage each other. I think it will be so cool to see the various ways He is using each and everyone of us!
UPDATE: So I felt this urgency this morning to publish this before going to church. It’s been on my mind for a while, but I felt like I had to write it this morning. I pressed publish and then got in the car for church. How amazing it was to sit down and the preacher spoke right to this! Must be something God wants us to know…
