The Debate

Ugh.

The debate.

Did you watch it?

I couldn’t.

I was at the ball field cheering on Embry and that was much better for my mental health.

If I had been at home, I would have watched because, as I’ve mentioned before, I am addicted to politics.

But man am I grateful I put my phone away and chose to be present to my kids and was outside laughing with other parents on a beautiful night.

Side note…proud momma moment - Embry had a play in the game and had her first hit!!!

So at least there was one bright spot that happened last night.

I listened to post debate reports and it sounds like we all lost.

If I’m totally honest, I’m depressed about it and fearful for our country.

What are we doing people?

But this doesn’t surprise God. He knew it was going to be rough. That’s why He’s been telling us to turn to Him. To look to Him for answers. To look to Him for comfort…for guidance…for assurance…for peace.

It’s a scary time and it’s easy to get angry at this person or that person, trust me, I might have done that today, but then God reminded me…

our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12)

What we are seeing play out is a spiritual battle and it is not new.

God told me a couple of weeks ago to go read the small prophets.

Yes. You read that right. The small ones.

I chuckled and knowingly said, “You mean the minor prophets?”

And He laughed and said, “Yes. The small ones.”

Okay God.

So I did, laughing to myself that I’m either insane talking to myself or I just tried to correct God.

Either way, I found it amusing and now I’m in the middle of the small prophets (because I can not not call them that now) and I can’t get over the repeated message…

Repent. Repent. Repent. God loves you, but turn away from your evil ways before it is too late.

How much more is He saying that to us today?

I find it amusing who God is waking up and using right now.

I noticed recently that all the podcasters and commentators I listen to are having radical experiences with God. Guys who never talked about their religious beliefs in all the years I’ve listened to them, are all of a sudden proudly proclaiming Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Talk about spiritual warfare or the demonic is not uncommon. They speak openly now about reading their bibles and even pray on their shows.

Only one I can think of hasn’t been saved yet and I’m just waiting. It’s going to be sooo good.

It’s incredible. And while none of them claim to be a prophet or proclaim to have any holiness or gifting apart from being saved by Jesus, they strangely are repeating the same message of the small prophets and I don’t think it’s a coincidence…

Americans, we need to repent for turning our back on God. The only way this country survives is if we look to God for the answers. We need to do that individually. Each and every one of us.

I don’t know the answer and none of us know the future, but I do know any future without God in it is not a good one, so I pray we all repent of our wrongdoings and ask God back into our hearts. Into our communities. Into our schools and our government institutions.

Without Him, we are most certainly lost.
